Women's Health Care That Listens

Too often, women are told their symptoms or lab results are “normal” — even when they don’t feel well. Fatigue, painful periods, headaches, mood changes, and anxiety may be common, but they should not be dismissed.

At Flourish Family Medicine, we partner with women to provide thoughtful, individualized care that blends conventional medicine with integrative approaches. By listening carefully and using appropriate laboratory testing, nutrition, supplementation, and lifestyle guidance, we work to understand the root causes of symptoms and support long-term health and balance.

Women’s Health at Flourish Family Medicine

At Flourish Family Medicine, we provide comprehensive primary care for women across all stages of life — from adolescence through menopause and beyond. Our approach recognizes that women’s health is dynamic, interconnected, and influenced by hormones, lifestyle, mental health, and life transitions.

We aim to create a welcoming, collaborative environment where women feel heard, informed, and supported in making decisions about their health.

Preventive Care

Even when a Pap smear is not due, annual preventive exams remain essential. These visits are about much more than cervical cancer screening — they are an opportunity to assess overall health, identify changes early, and address concerns before they become more significant.

Annual preventive visits allow your provider to:
  • Review changes in symptoms, energy, mood, sleep, or stress
  • Monitor weight, blood pressure, and other key health markers
  • Assess hormone-related concerns and menstrual changes
  • Review family history and evolving health risks
  • Discuss preventive screening and lifestyle strategies

Pap smear intervals may vary based on age and screening history, but preventive care should continue every year. Regular visits help create continuity, provide a broader view of your health over time, and support proactive, personalized care.

Gynecologic & Hormonal Health

Hormonal and gynecologic concerns are common — and often multifactorial. Our providers take time to understand symptoms in context and explore appropriate evaluation and treatment options.

We commonly support women with:
  • Abnormal uterine bleeding
  • Painful or irregular periods
  • PMS and PMDD
  • Endometriosis and uterine fibroids
  • Vaginal infections and recurrent UTIs
  • Hormonal imbalance symptoms (fatigue, mood changes, brain fog, sleep disruption)

Care may include conventional and functional lab testing, nutrition and lifestyle guidance, supplements, medications, or hormone therapy when appropriate.

Gynecologic & Hormonal

Contraception & Family Planning

We offer individualized contraceptive counseling to help you choose options that align with your health history, preferences, and reproductive goals. Our approach focuses on education, shared decision-making, and understanding how different methods may affect your body.

Contraceptive counseling may include discussion of:
  • Oral contraceptive pills
  • Injectable contraceptives
  • Intrauterine devices (IUDs)
  • Diaphragms
  • Natural family planning and fertility awareness methods

While we do not perform IUD insertions in our office, we are able to remove existing IUDs and can coordinate referrals to gynecology providers, midwives, or other qualified clinicians for insertion when appropriate.

Our goal is to ensure you have access to accurate information and supportive care, while helping coordinate services that best meet your needs.

Preconception & Fertility Support

We believe that preconception care is most effective when it begins before challenges arise. Whether you are actively trying to conceive or simply thinking ahead, early evaluation and proactive planning can provide valuable insight and support.

At Flourish Family Medicine, we can:
  • Discuss fertility goals and timing
  • Order laboratory testing to evaluate hormones and fertility-related markers
  • Review menstrual cycle patterns and ovulatory health
  • Explore lifestyle, nutritional, and environmental factors that may impact fertility

When additional evaluation is needed, we coordinate referrals for specialized testing or procedures, including:
  • Ovarian follicle count
  • Hysterosalpingogram (HSG)
  • Semen analysis for male partners

We also provide guidance on when to consider next steps, such as referral for intrauterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilization (IVF), or consultation with a reproductive endocrinologist.

Our approach goes beyond test results alone. We take time to explore potential contributing factors — the “why” behind fertility struggles — and support patients with individualized, proactive care at every stage of the journey.

Postpartum & Transitional Care

Postpartum health extends well beyond the first few weeks after delivery. We support women during this transition with attention to physical recovery, emotional well-being, and hormonal shifts.

Postpartum care may include:
  • Support for mood changes, anxiety, or depression
  • Hormonal and metabolic evaluation
  • Nutritional and lifestyle support
  • Return-to-work and recovery planning

Perimenopause & Menopause Care

Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause can affect nearly every system in the body — including sleep, mood, metabolism, energy, cognition, and overall quality of life. Many women are told these symptoms are “normal” or simply part of aging, even when they feel disruptive or overwhelming.

At Flourish Family Medicine, we take perimenopause and menopause seriously. We provide individualized care to help women understand what is happening in their bodies and explore treatment options that align with their symptoms, goals, and medical history.

Care may include:
  • Comprehensive symptom review and health history
  • Conventional and functional laboratory evaluation when appropriate
  • Lifestyle, nutrition, and supplement guidance
  • Bio-identical hormone therapy (HRT) or non-hormonal options
  • Ongoing monitoring and adjustments over time

Our goal is not simply symptom suppression, but helping women feel informed, supported, and confident as they move through this transition.
