Telemedicine

Convenient and Secure Care

Flourish Family Medicine offers telemedicine visits for certain types of care that do not require an in-person physical exam. Virtual visits allow established patients to receive timely, high-quality care from the comfort of home, while maintaining continuity with providers who know your health history.

Telemedicine Appointments at Flourish Family Medicine

At Flourish Family Medicine, we offer telemedicine visits to make care more accessible and convenient for established patients. Virtual visits allow you to connect with a provider from home when an in-person exam is not required.

Telemedicine is not a replacement for all medical care, but it can be an effective option for many types of visits when used appropriately.

All telemedicine visits are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform, ensuring your privacy and confidentiality.

  • Follow-up visits
  • Medication management and prescription refills
  • Mental and emotional health support
  • Chronic condition management
  • Review of lab results or treatment plans
  • Health education and counseling

When Telemedicine Is a Good Fit

Telemedicine may be appropriate for:

Some of the providers at Flourish Family Medicine offer telemedicine-only appointments, allowing expanded access to care while maintaining continuity and quality.

How Telemedicine Visits Work

Schedule your visit online or by phone

Prepare your device (smartphone, tablet, or computer with camera and internet access)

Log in to the secure video link at your appointment time

Meet with your provider to discuss your concerns

Receive a care plan, including next steps, prescriptions, follow-up, or referrals if needed

An in-office visit is required for:
  • Well-child exams
  • Annual preventive exams
  • Certain musculoskeletal evaluations
  • Skin rashes or lesions that require hands-on assessment
  • Suspected ear infections
  • Shortness of breath, wheezing, or difficulty breathing

Depending on your child’s symptoms, an in-office visit may be necessary so appropriate diagnostic testing can be performed. This may include throat or nasal swabs to test for conditions such as COVID-19, influenza, or strep throat, or urine testing to evaluate for a possible urinary tract infection. These types of testing cannot be completed during a telemedicine visit however we can arrange for in office testing.

If a concern is initially discussed during a telemedicine appointment and is determined to require an in-person exam or testing, your provider will guide you on next steps to ensure your child receives appropriate care.

Telemedicine is not appropriate for:
  • Medical emergencies or urgent, life-threatening symptoms
  • Conditions requiring immediate physical examination or procedures
  • Situations requiring in-office diagnostic testing or imaging at the time of evaluation

For emergencies, patients should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

To ensure the best experience:
  • Join the visit from a quiet, private space
  • Ensure good lighting and a stable internet connection
  • Test your camera and microphone in advance
  • Have your login link ready

Telemedicine visits at Flourish Family Medicine are billed at the same rate as in-office visits, unless otherwise specified. Coverage for telemedicine varies by insurance plan, and patients are responsible for verifying their individual benefits.

For patient safety and quality of care:
  • Patients must be physically located in Washington State at the time of the visit
  • Driving or participating in a telemedicine visit from a public setting is not permitted
  • Telemedicine is not appropriate for all medical concerns and may require in-office follow-up
  • The provider reserves the right to determine whether a concern is appropriate for telemedicine

Telemedicine services are available only to established patients who meet one of the following criteria:
  • The patient has been seen in person at Flourish Family Medicine within the past 12 months, or
  • The patient has a documented Primary Care Provider (PCP) on file with a visit within the past 12 months

These requirements help ensure continuity of care, patient safety, and appropriate medical decision-making.

We have two Telemedicine providers, Dr. Meyers and Dr. Green. You can learn more about them here.
