COVID-Related Care
COVID19 continues to find its way into our daily life. We must continue to take the necessary steps to keep our community safe and the virus under control. To do our part, we offer COVID testing, vaccines, and post-COVID care to Mill Creek and our surrounding communities.
COVID-19 Testing at Flourish
We currently offer rapid COVID testing at our Flourish Family Medicine Clinic. If you need test results for work, school, or sports, book a testing visit with us to ensure you get the results back in time. It can take between 24-72 hours since we send tests out to the lab for PCR testing.
If you simply need to know if you are negative for COVID due to traveling or larger gatherings to reduce the spread and keep your loved ones and community safe, at-home rapid testing is an option (see below). With at-home tests, you get results within minutes.
Rapid tests are considered most accurate in patients who have COVID symptoms. However, the rapid COVID test can't detect small amounts of the virus or asymptomatic cases as accurately as the PCR test can. This is why your school or work may require PCR testing.
Our COVID testing requires a Telemedicine visit and then a drive-up testing option. Since we require an “office” visit for this, it does get billed to insurance.
Please check your testing requirements to ensure what kind of test you need. Call our office to book a COVID test visit with us or look online to find the nearest COVID testing site.
At-Home COVID Tests
Stock your home with free at-home COVID tests. You can now order up to four tests per household using the government website. Shipping is also free, and you can expect a delivery turnaround time of 7-12 days. We recommend ordering them now to have access to them when you need them (before traveling or visiting high-risk family members, experiencing symptoms, after exposure, etc.).
COVID Vaccine Recommendations
Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself, loved ones, and our community from COVID-19.
The CDC now recommends people ages 6 months through 4 years should get all COVID-19 primary series doses. Book a visit with a local pharmacy or community vaccination site to discuss the best vaccine plan for you and your family.
Not Feeling Confident About the Vaccine? We’re Clearing up the Myths
To make sure you feel confident about getting the vaccine, we wanted to clear up any miscommunication you may have heard about it. If you would like to discuss in more detail then please schedule an office visit to discuss your concerns with your provider.
Why should you get the vaccine?
It's more difficult for the COVID-19 virus to spread when the majority of people in a community are immune– through vaccination or recent infection. Also, unvaccinated individuals have a higher risk of being hospitalized or dying from a COVID-19 variant.
Doesn’t the current COVID strain cause only mild symptoms?
Many people who get COVID-19 only have mild symptoms, but some COVID-19 variants are more likely to make you really sick. Some people can become very sick or die from COVID-19.. Others who have been infected with the COVID virus may struggle with “Long COVID” where you experience symptoms that last for months and negatively affect your quality of life. Getting vaccinated is one of the ways to protect yourself and your loved ones from COVID.
Is the COVID vaccine truly safe and effective?
The COVID-19 vaccines meet the FDA’s standards for safety, effectiveness, and manufacturing quality.
Should you get the vaccine if you already got COVID?
Yes, you should still get vaccinated if you already had COVID-19. While it’s uncommon to be re-infected with COVID-19 in the 90 days after you were infected, we don't know how long natural immunity lasts. That means you could get COVID again, after natural immunity weakens, leaving you more vulnerable.
